The new Cadillac CT6 is writing history with its introduction, as it will be the brand new member of the Cadillac’s family. The new model was firstly introduced at the 2015 New York International Auto Show and contrary to previous speculations, the CT6 will not pose as a replacement for another Cadillac’s luxury sedans – the XTS, but it will be an addition to the flagship gamut. The new model is expected to be manufactured in GM’s Detroit-Hamtrack Assembly plant. The car will be on sale by the end of 2015 and sold as a 2016 model. The plug-in hybrid versions will also be introduced somewhere in 2016 or 2017.
The CT6 is designed with only one purpose – to handle the fiercest competition in the class. Mercedes-Benz S class, Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, Lexus LS and Jaguar XJ all stand in the newbie’s way, but from the looks of it, it is more than ready for the show-down. The new CT6 looks great. Looking at the front, the first thing to notice is the set of uniquely designed headlights, featuring equally interesting LED daylight lamps. The design does not differ much from the rest of the models, but the extension of the headlights that goes all the way to the lower air intake is really something you don’t see that often. The front features a large and wide grille and air intake opening stretching across entire front bumper. The turn signal lights are separated from the main headlight assembly and are located at each fender. The overall look of the car is pretty sharp and aggressive, featuring many sharp angles and edges. The back of the new CT6 fits nicely with the rest of the car. Backlights feature the same design lines as the headlamps, but without the extra extension. The back is clean and simple, while the rear bumper features a set of quad exhaust pipes in two by two arrangements.
As far as the interior is concerned, the new CT6 has much to show. The cabin features a minimalist design and is quite spacious – not a surprise for a car of that size. The majority of the buttons is located on the steering wheel, in order to keep the central console as clean as possible, making it pretty elegant. The instrument panel features wood elements stretching across. The wood elements are present on both the console and door panels, as well. The new Cadillac CT6 features some pretty interesting gadgets, such as a CUE Infotainment system with a 10.2 inch LCD touch screen, exterior cameras with a 360 degree view, an LCD display hidden behind the glass of the rearview mirror, set of retracting 10 inch TFT displays mounted on the front seats headrests for passengers, quad zone air conditioning, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE connectivity, and much more.
