Volkswagen’s 4-seat 2016 Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE is a top-hole concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. The company now adds another futuristic vehicle to its well-known division. The first thing that the audience at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show noticed is that the replacement hints strongly at the Passat, but it boasts an athletic body and of course coupe-like appearance. The newest model actually represents the company’s latest design language. It appears that Volkswagen’s master piece will be a very interesting thing to look at.

Exterior design

The concept vehicle is 191.7 inches long and it has a very big 118.9 inches long wheelbase. The 2016 Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE is underpinned by the company’s MQB that ensures good proportions and packaging as well. The front fascia features a wider grille that mergers with sleek LED headlamps. The vehicle also has a quite strong shoulder line and air vents that carry an LED frame. The rear part of the vehicle is dominated by a low-set C-pillar that develops insensibly from the roofline. With its new look the vehicle has become really powerful thing. In other words we will have a long leviathan that exudes power and luxury.

Details about the interior

The Sport Coupe ensures a comfortable driving for four passengers at a time with its conceived interior. The vehicle boasts a sharp, clean and ergonomically optimized style. The designers used interesting wood inserts on the steering wheel in order to achieve a rather sophisticated and classy look. The icing on the cake is the usage of high-quality materials and excellent technology features which nowadays play a significant role in a vehicle. The company didn’t want to leave anything to chance, so the vehicle arrives with 4 separate displays in total. The first and the most significant one is the 10.1-inch central infotainment system with touchscreen. The passengers who sit in the back have a chance to use a 12.3 inches display and 10.1 inches display in the seatbacks. Another interesting fact is the navigation system that interacts with a smartwatch to discover the mood of the driver to choose which route to take.

2016 Volkswagen Sport Coupe Concept GTE engine

We have already mentioned that the vehicle is based on MQB platform, but we haven’t mentioned that it runs 3.0L turbocharged V6 e-motor that enables you to get the maximum power of total 374 hp. We will have an automatic, 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. The power of the vehicle appears to be limited to 32 miles in case you run the electricity only. If you use just the V6 engine, in that case you will have a front-wheel-drive vehicle that uses as less fuel as possible. The sporty GTE mode on the other hand functions differently. It uses both, the electric and engine motors to accelerate from 0 to 62 meters per hour in just 5 seconds.
